Thoughts on Adulting + How I’m Failing At It

I’m going to warn you from now, this is going to be a chatty post.

2017 has been such a weird year for me, mostly because it’s a year full of changes. I ended 2016 graduating college and started the new year with absolutely no clue on what the year has in store for me. It’s already April and I’m still unsure where I’m going to end up by the end of the year. These past few months have been filled with me working, looking for a better-paying job (which feels like a job itself), applying to grad school/scholarships, and beating myself up for not being better at everything.

Here’s the thing, I have no idea what I’m doing. All I know is there’s somewhere I want to be and getting from here to there requires money, which requires time, which can be difficult to come by. Time is such a tricky thing. I have more of it since I don’t have classes or homework anymore, but now it’s harder to manage. I thought that once I graduated I would find a decent paying, full-time job to save up for grad school and any extra time I’d have would be spent reading and blogging. My mom warned me that it wouldn’t be so easy and she was right, so now I’m here, literally re-evaluating all my past decisions and analyzing my future ones.

There hasn’t been a day that’s gone by since I learned of my acceptance to my top choice grad program, where I’ve internally battled on whether or not I should go. Everything in me screams that I should go, that I could make it work…somehow. Do I jump? Or do I wait and see if the opportunity will present itself at a better time? Honestly I’m so conflicted, only time will tell.

Being a young adult is honestly the weirdest thing because some of your peers are already great at it and some aren’t. I’m excited (and scared) to see where my 20s will take me and hope that, in the end, everything will work out and I’ll be happy.

Princess and the Page Blog Tour + Thoughts

Welcome to a world where magic spills from the tip of a pen. THE PRINCESS AND THE PAGE is Christina Farley’s first middle grade, releasing from Scholastic Press. Make sure you enter the $25 gift card giveaway at the end of this post!

is the author of the bestselling Gilded series. Prior to that, she worked as an
international teacher and at a top secret job for Disney where she was known to
scatter pixie dust before the sun rose. When not traveling the world or
creating imaginary ones, she spends time with her family in Clermont, Florida
with her husband and two sons where they are busy preparing for the next World
Cup, baking cheesecakes, and raising a pet dragon that’s in disguise as a
cockatiel. You can visit her online at
Middle grade has been a hit or miss for me these past couple of years, but Christina Farley knocked it out of the ball park with The Princess and the Page! Keira a brave and adventurous 12 year old girl that loves to write, but is discouraged to do so from her mother, especially after an elaborate break-in occurs during the first chapter. This results in her mother throwing away any writing utensil that they own, much to Keira’s confusion. This scene actually made me laugh out loud.
Things that I loved:
  • how quickly we were thrown into the action
  • how Keira wasn’t oversimplified, she was a character with depth and history
  • the creativity of the entire story
  • the innocence of being inside a 12-year old’s mind

The only thing I wish I could change is my age! I know that I would’ve enjoyed ‘growing up’ re-reading this book along side with Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and The Secret Garden.

Documentaries: A non-fiction book you’d recommend to everyone

Action and Adventure: An action packed book

World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks

There are so many books that can fit into this category but I decided to go with World War Z because it blew me away! I highly recommend listening to the audiobook because it has a full cast of characters, making the experience even more realistic. Since it’s about zombies there is plenty of action/adventure.

New Releases: A book that just came out or will be coming out soon that you can’t wait to read.

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas

A pretty basic answer, but this is my most anticipated book for 2017! I devoured ACOTAR and ACOMAF so I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Creative Blogger Award

creative blogger award

I was nominated by Hajra over at Another Ramble for the Creative Blogger Award! Thank you so much for nominating me (:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog.
  • Share 5 facts about yourself.
  • Nominate some bloggers in return and notify them about their nomination.
  • Keep the rules in your post to make it easy for everyone to know what to do.

So let’s just jump right into it! Here are five facts about me, I tried to be as random as possible:

  1. My hair hasn’t been in its natural state since 2011. I dyed my hair towards the end of 8th grade and have never been 100% natural since. First I had red highlights, then it was all dyed a burgundy color, then back to red, then just regular blondish brown highlights, then blue ends that faded to a greenish color, then back to blondish brown highlights. I’m looking forward to dying it blue again soon (: (P.S. I take care of my hair, I don’t use bleach but a safer lightening developer plus I trim it regularly- so my hair isn’t dry)
  2.  I’m obsessed with muffins- preferably Dunkin’ Donuts muffins. I don’t remember the first time I tried a Dunkin Donuts muffin but I swear I can live (unhealthily) off of those things! My favorite one is, of course, chocolate chip but I also love coffee cake as well. Oh! And I also love to dip it into hot chocolate for an extra chocolate-y taste.
  3. I haven’t watched the majority of the classic/popular horror movies. I almost typed never but I recently saw the new Carrie movie, which wasn’t as scary as I expected. My parents were never the type to watch or make me watch scary movies and as I grew older I never wanted to see one. However that changed when I went to Halloween Horror Nights last year and I didn’t really get the haunted houses story (including Halloween!). This year I’m planning on watching as many of the movies that the event is including so I won’t be so clueless.
  4. I love Starbucks, but I don’t love coffee. My parents live off of coffee, they cannot go about the day without at least one cup. On the other hand, I’m not the biggest fan. However I love love love Starbucks frappuccinos, mostly because they taste nothing like coffee. I like a faint taste of coffee but every time I try regular iced coffee or something like that I never like it- that being said I’ll take a coffee with 1/2 cup of chocolate syrup 😛
  5. I put down Harry Potter the first time I tried reading it. When I was in 3rd or 4th grade my dad gave me the firs Harry Potter book and asked me to give it a shot. Here’s the thing, I thought that it was a ‘grown-up’ book because it was always on my parent’s bookshelf. Since I thought I was reading a grown up book I only made it a few pages thinking that I couldn’t understand it (silly me). Only a few months to a year later I devoured the entire series.

I hope you enjoyed those random facts about me! If you want to read more like this check out my old Random Fact/Stories post (: Now for my nominations:

SBPT Week 8 – Reading is my Treasure

SBPT 2015

Welcome to the eighth stop of the Summer Blogger Promo Tour hosted by The Book Bratz! This week we have our last guest blogger- Kaitlin from Reading is my Treasure! She created an original tag, which combines her love for books and the TV show Criminal Minds (:

First of all, hi everyone! Thank you to Ana for hosting me today.☺

One of my favorite shows is Criminal Minds. It’s a crime show that focuses on a Behavioral Analysis Unit in the FBI. There are so many crime shows, but I haven’t stuck with many like I have with Criminal Minds. There are so many elements that combine into something very special that keeps me coming back for more. Instead of just telling you what those are, I’m going to pair a book (or series) that also has that particular element.

every breath

Interesting Mystery

Fantastic Cast of Characters

All Sorts of Feels That Sneak Up on You

cahill chronicles

The Cahill Witch Chronicles by Jessica Spotswood

Strong Friendships

The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

Avalon by Mindee Arnett

I hope you enjoyed the post! Do you also watch Criminal Minds? What books would you match to these categories?

Thanks for creating such an awesome tag Kaitlin! Come back next week for the LAST post of the tour for the year (:
